Krossa Regal Hosta

- Description
This hosta is a striking variety known as Hosta 'Krossa Regal', celebrated for its elegant blue-toned foliage and tidy, symmetrical growth.
🌿 Foliage Description:
Color: Intense blue-gray to powdery blue-green, thanks to a waxy coating called “glaucous bloom” that enhances its cool-toned appearance.
Shape: Elongated, heart-shaped to spear-shaped leaves with a slightly cupped and corrugated texture.
Texture: Smooth and firm, resistant to pests like slugs due to the thick leaf substance.
Size: Leaves typically reach 6–8 inches long and the plant grows about 16 inches tall and 30 inches wide in a neat mound.
🌸 Flowering Details:
Bloom Time: Mid to late summer.
Flowers: Bell-shaped, lavender-blue blooms held above the foliage on tall scapes (around 22 inches tall).
Attracts: Pollinators like bees and hummingbirds.
🌱 Growth Habit and Landscaping Use:
Light Requirements: Prefers partial to full shade. Too much sun may fade the blue color to green.
Soil: Thrives in rich, well-drained soil with consistent moisture.
Growth Habit: Dense, clump-forming perennial ideal for border edging, shady garden beds, or understory planting.
Companions: Pairs beautifully with ferns, astilbe, bleeding hearts, and heuchera for a lush woodland look.
‘Halcyon’ is part of the Tardiana group, known for long-lasting color and excellent structure, making it a low-maintenance and visually impactful choice for shaded gardens.
