Daylily - 114

- Description
Please note: There is no guarantee your plant will produce the twelve petal flower structure. In addition, you may receive a few scapes that produce this form and some scapes that will produce the regular six petal form. Typically it takes three years to produce enough scapes for the plant to produce a 12 petal flower. Images show both six and twelve pedal flowers.
This daylily features a vivid yellow color in full bloom, glowing in bright sunlight.
Here's a detailed description:
🌼 Flower Characteristics
Color: The petals are a vibrant golden yellow, with a sunlit sheen that reflects brightness. The throat blends slightly deeper yellow tones, adding depth.
Petals: Broad and ruffled at the edges, with graceful, slightly undulating margins. The petal texture appears soft but sturdy.
Form: The rare flower form has a twelve-petal daylily form, with six larger outer petals (sepals) and six slightly narrower inner ones.
Center: Prominent stamens with dark brown anthers contrast sharply against the yellow, drawing the eye inward.
🌿 Foliage and Structure
Scape (flower stalk): Upright and strong, supporting the large bloom. Multiple flower buds are visible on nearby scapes, indicating prolific blooming.
Leaves: The typical strappy, arching green leaves of daylilies surround the base, although they are not the main focus in this photo.
Growth Habit: Clump-forming with flower stalks emerging tall above the foliage, ideal for borders or mass plantings.
🌞 Site and Conditions
Grown in full sun, as evidenced by the bright lighting and shadows.
Plant in mulched soil (wood chips), which helps with moisture retention and weed control.
This cheerful daylily is likely a mid-season to early bloomer and makes a stunning visual impact due to its saturated color and healthy form.
